2025 Heathcote Fall Garden Festival and More – Free Admission

Come help celebrate Jim Smith’s 100th Birthday! On Sunday, Oct. 19, during its annual Garden Fest, Heathcote Botanical Gardens will host a bonsai bash in honor of Jim’s 100th Birthday. Jim is no longer with us, but his legacy survives at Heathcote and in the hearts and minds of an entire generation of bonsai artists.

— The great Ed Trout will style a 150-year-old buttonwood.
— A memorial service will be held, with folks’ remembrances of Jim.
— Jim’s favorite quaffs — Landshark, root beer and Yoo-Hoo – will be served along with cake and other goodies.
— A build-a-bonsai workshop for parents and children.
— A demo of new techniques in the bonsai world.
–There will be numerous other activities including a pie-making contest.
