Some of the prime purposes of the Bonsai Societies of Florida are: to promote the knowledge, interest, appreciation, and enjoyment of the art of bonsai on the part of its members and the general public and to provide a forum including publications, meetings, and exhibitions whereby Societies and individuals may join in accomplishing the purposes stated herein. (Excerpt from the Bsf bylaws)
One very important way by which we carry out these purposes is by way of an annual convention. Our annual convention serves Bsf members by offering exhibits, a large vendor area, demos, raffles, scholarship competition, and the ability to do a workshop with an accomplished bonsai artist. The money necessary to put these conventions together arrives mainly from the $15.00 membership fee that members pay annually. Every year, however, everything we purchase is more expensive than the previous year and we are asking for your help.
We need your help to continue to provide a top-notch convention that we all feel proud to be a part of. You can help us by simply donating to one of 2 funds specifically set for convention use.
The Convention Reserve Fund: This fund helps us with costs associated with convention expenses. Everything from artist fees, travel, meals, and lodging, and with the costs involved with the purchase of the material used for workshops and demos.
Bsf Scholarship Fund: This fund is specifically used for the purpose of awarding the $1000 first-place scholarship competition award and the $500 second-place scholarship competition award. These monies are paid to the winners in order to offset costs related to the continuing bonsai education.
Your donation will have an impact on the success of the convention and of the scholarship program. Click on the donation button to begin the donation process.
