Kawa Bonsai Society is pleased to announce the seventh annual Joy of Bonsai to be held on January 16-18, 2009 at the Flagler Extension Office on Sawgrass Road in Bunnell, Florida.
The featured speaker is Robert Mahler, from Pennsylvania, who has been trained in bonsai in Japan for four years. He will be working on imported material in both his demonstrations and workshops. The featured trees will be Black Pine and Satsuki Azaleas of assorted varieties. Florida bonsai artists will be Mike Rogers and Mike Cartrett as well as Mary Davidson who will be giving an Oriental Card design and workshop.
Our Friday night program will be “Studying Bonsai in Japan”. Included in this program is a tree styling demo in the Japanese tradition as well as a lecture with power point program on his training and the Japanese culture of bonsai education. As always, Kawa serves refreshments with this program. The bonsai exhibit will be judged this night and a critique by Robert Mahler is included in the admission price.
This is your chance to see a mini conference at a greatly reduced price from a regular conference. There will be vendors, refreshments, continuous demos and workshops on both Saturday and Sunday. Check out the attachments for the schedule and registration form and the vendor registration form. Hope to see you there.
