Margaret Pierce

Margaret Pierce

Marge was our club member for more than 40 years.  She joined the Central Florida Bonsai Club right after it was started in 1969, and she was very active in the club where she held many positions:

         1974-75            Corresponding & Recording Secretary
         1975-76            Vice President
1976-77            President (Club had about 25 members)
         1980-83            Corresponding Secretary
         1988-89            Treasurer
         1990-91            President
         1996-97            President
         1999-00            Corresponding Secretary

She participated in the first organizational meeting of what would become Bonsai Societies of Florida in May 5th, 1973. Also chaired a program in 1980 at the John Young Museum which featured Yuji Yoshimura, and received BSF’s Writer of the Year award for 1995-96.  She also served at the Club’s Librarian in 1993. Around 2006  she got the award for having the most articles published in the BSF newsletter.  She also volunteered as a Master Gardener in Orange County for some years.

She was very enthusiastic about the art of bonsai. Not so long ago, she opened the door and the garage of her house in the weekends to share the bonsai knowledge with club members.

Among innumerous contributions from her there are two which will be always with us: the Bonsai Guidelines Crib Sheet and the logo she designed for the CFBC. She was a very talented designer.

Marge passed away in March 29, 2011. She will be dearly missed by us.
